At the end of every flat clearance stands the same question: where does it all go? Old furniture, a broken fridge, the cellar where twenty years have quietly piled up. We clear, sort properly and hand over swept clean — with a quantity that is billed in a way you can follow.
Gerber Transport handles disposal in Winterthur, Zurich and the neighbouring cantons. From a single piece of bulky waste through a cellar compartment to a complete flat or business clearance. Whatever is still usable we separate out — not everything that is no longer needed belongs in an incinerator.
We bill by quantity and material type. That sounds more cumbersome than a flat rate, and it is more honest: you pay for what actually arises, and the quote shows how each item comes about.
In Switzerland disposal is not a single uniform process but a sorting job. Each type of material has its own route, and that is also where the price difference between the items on your quote comes from.
That is why a walk-through before the quote is worth it. Two cellars of the same volume can cost different amounts if one holds mostly cardboard and the other old paint tins and a fridge.
A sofa, a washing machine, a mattress. Especially worthwhile when it is done together with a move or a delivery.
The most common job before a move. This is where most accumulates, and where most is underestimated.
Complete clearance including kitchen, built-in units and cellar. Handed over swept clean, on request with the final cleaning to follow.
After a death in the family or a move into a care home. We go through beforehand what will be kept — the rest is cleared.
Office, warehouse, workshop. With receipts for the accounts and, on request, outside business hours.
Construction waste and old material. Billed separately, because the acceptance points differ from household goods.
We look at what is there and estimate quantity and material types. We also clarify what stays and what happens to items that are still usable.
Items separated by material type, so you can see what the largest one is — and where pre-sorting would save money.
We arrange the loading zone, the lift and access to the cellar. For business clearances also when work is permitted.
Sorting happens on site, not afterwards. Usable items are set aside, hazardous waste is collected separately.
Floors swept, rooms empty. If a final cleaning with a handover guarantee follows, it starts straight afterwards.
On request you receive the records from the collection points — for business clearances usually needed in any case.
| Factor | Why it counts | What you can influence |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | Determines vehicle size, number of runs and acceptance charges | Pre-sort whatever you can dispose of yourself |
| Material type | Electrical appliances, construction waste and hazardous waste cost differently | Name hazardous waste in advance, not on the day |
| Accessibility | Cellar stairs, no lift and narrow access all cost time | Secure a loading zone, keep the routes clear |
| Dismantling | A fitted kitchen or wall unit has to be taken apart first | Mention it early so tools and time are planned in |
| Combined with a move | One run instead of two, one team instead of two appointments | Ask for both together — usually the cheapest option |
These count as hazardous waste and belong at a designated acceptance point. Tell us at the walk-through what is there — then it is declared and billed correctly instead of being left behind on clearance day.
Tell us what should be cleared. We look at it, estimate quantity and material types and give you a fixed price with the items listed separately.
