In an office move the quote is rarely the centre of attention. The question is how long nobody can work. In most companies a day of standstill costs more than the entire transport. That is why we plan business moves backwards: from the moment work has to be possible again.
Gerber Transport moves offices, practices, workshops and warehouses in Winterthur, Zurich and the neighbouring cantons. From a single office to several floors, at the weekend or in stages if you prefer, so that operations keep running.
What you get is one contact person for the whole job and an invoice that passes through your accounts — with separate items and your reference number on the document.
Most delays in business moves do not happen in the carrying. They happen where nobody was responsible. We settle this division before the quote — it also determines the scope, and with it the price.
On your side
On our side
One person on your side and one on ours is enough. The more people who are allowed to decide, the more queries arise on moving day — and every query costs time that everyone involved is being paid for at once.
Dismantled on Friday evening, transported and rebuilt on Saturday, working on Monday. The most common solution for offices up to one floor.
One team moves while the others carry on working. It takes longer overall but never shuts down the whole business.
If the new site is not ready yet: furniture goes into storage and is delivered at the right moment, instead of being transported twice.
Which option fits usually becomes clear at the first walk-through. What decides it is the number of workstations, access at both sites, and whether work is permitted at the weekend — in some buildings that is set out in the house rules.
| Factor | Why it counts | What you can influence |
|---|---|---|
| Number of workstations | The base size: furniture, crates, team strength | Sort out beforehand — we dispose of old files and furniture in the same job |
| Packing | The biggest time item before the move itself | Staff pack their own workstation |
| Dismantling and assembly | Cupboard systems and large tables take time; rebuilding takes longer than taking apart | Fix the seating plan first, so nothing is placed twice |
| Working hours | Weekend, evening and public holidays are calculated differently | Weigh it against the cost of an interruption to operations |
| Accessibility | Goods lift, carrying distances, a loading place for the vehicle | Reserve the lift, secure the parking space early |
For larger projects we issue partial invoices per stage on request. That has a practical advantage: each stage can be checked while everyone involved still remembers the details, instead of assessing one collected invoice at the end that nobody can reconstruct.
Tell us how many workstations are moving and from when work has to be possible again. We look at both sites and suggest the option that holds up operations least.
